Phenology Club

One of our regular nature club hikes is Phenology (the study of changes in nature over time) Club; each family has chosen a tree to follow through a year. We have hikes set up for the third Thursday of each month; Stella's young black walnut is devoid of leaves, so we spent time examining the bark closely. As usual, there were other adventures to be had--freeing the last of the milkweed seeds from their pods, discovering ice in the stream, the road, and in a birdbath...
