Seven Hours For Ice Cream

We spontaneously drove to Wallops Island, Virginia hoping to see the Antares rocket launch. First a stop, Kent Narrows, just over the Chesapeake Bay; we had a little walk and beach time and looked around the Chesapeake Heritage Museum.
Unfortunately, the launch was aborted due to a boat being in restricted waters.

After the launch was aborted, we headed over to Chincoteague Island for some ice cream before the 3 1/2 hour trip home; some other homeschooling families we know had made the trip too, and we met up with them.

  1. Even more unfortunately, when the rocket did launch on Tuesday, it exploded shortly after lift off; we were not there, but our friends who returned for a second try sad it was shocking and very dramatic.
