Day Three: In Which Mama Taps In To Her Domestic Goddess

Peach season; I had an inspiration to make an old school dessert-Peach Melba.
Had to go with Nigella Lawson's recipe, as she's so fabulous!

Prepping peaches early in the day. Also froze 2 bags of sliced peaches for the winter.

All other steps undocumented...
but one of the steps was poaching the peaches in a sugar syrup. Afterwards, I had an inspiration-steep lavender in the poaching liquid [a friend has shared a recipe for lavender-peach jam and I have lavender on hand to make up a batch of that...]. Wow! The resulting lavender-peach syrup is sublime.

Anyway, here they are enjoying the lavender-less peach Melba.

  1. I'll have to see if we're still getting peaches... so why didn't you give the nippers the lavender syrup?
